JAIPUR’S ‘MUST NOT MISS’ LIST

Are you making a list of places to see while you’re in Jaipur?

Well, here’s a little bucket list to fuel your fire as you rover around Pink City. Miss these at your own risk.

  1. Jaigarh Fort Canon:This monster canon has a legacy of never being used for an actual war. The only time this dragon spit fire was when it was test fired with a charge of 100 kilograms of gunpowder. The shot resulted in a depression 35 kilometers away which is presently used as a small pond by the villagers in Chaksu. Interesting, isn’t it?
  2. Jal Mahal: The monument holds a reputation for being the most photogenic sites in Jaipur. Built in 1734, the Jal Mahal was originally used as a shooting lodge by the Maharaj of Jaipur. (Yeah, we too almost fainted knowing this!) It is guaranteed that you will have a mini heart attack looking at the fabulous interior of this marvel. Disclaimer: The only way you can own this place is through pictures.
  3. Jantar Mantar: Who will ever want to miss seeing the world’s largest stone sundial? Not a traveler! Jantar Mantar, built by the Rajput King Sawai Jai Singh, is a collection of nineteen astronomical instruments. And if you’re game to learn about planets and astronomy the Indian way, mark this world heritage site as VERY IMPORTANT.
  4. Central Museum: Well, this is one museum that looks nothing less than a palace. But don’t let these pretty looks fool you. Albert Hall Museum, also known as the Central Museum, holds everything a mummified body to the artifacts of Rajputana and the colonial heritage of India. Go, explore!
  • Central Park: Situated in the heart of the Pink City, Central Park houses India’s very own ‘Stonehenge’. Enjoy a peaceful morning walk if you ever manage to wake up that early with lush green surroundings and some bird watch.
  • Abhaneri Step Well: The step well is nothing short of an optical illusion. If you intend to burn some calories, consider walking here. Abhaneri Wells was the most innovative way desert people conserved water during dry season. We do not recommend you to miss visiting Chand Baori, the largest and deepest step well in Abhaneri, for anything.
